According to conventional print book layout in traditional publishing, each book has two title pages: a half-title page and a title page. The half-title page includes only the title of the book, whereas the full title page includes the title, along with the subtitle, author, publisher, publisher city, and sometimes other information.
Pressbooks automatically generates a Title Page in your PDF and EPUB exports, and (in most themes) a Half-Title Page in your PDF export (but not EPUB).
The automatically-generated Title Page (and Half-Title) pulls information from the Book Info page (where information “about” your book is stored), and styles it appropriately. Most Pressbooks Title Pages are designed to include:
- Title
- Subtitle
- Author
- Publisher
- Publisher city
The title and author will be filled in automatically whether or not you add content to your Book Info page, based on the information you first input when you created the book. For other items, you'll need to manually add the information to the Book Info page in order for it to automatically populate your Title Page.
NOTE: The author name will display as the username of the user who created the book until author or contributor names are created.
