The easiest way duplicate a book on Pressbooks would be the following:
1. Create a new book shell without any content in it
2. On the original book, go to the Export page from the left-hand menu of your book's dashboard
3. Select "Pressbooks XML" under "Other formats" and click Export Your Book
4. Download the exported file to your computer
5. On the new book shell, go to Tools Import from the left-hand menu of your book's dashboard
6. Select "Pressbooks/WordPress XML (.wxr or .xml)" as your import type
7. Next to Import Source, select "Upload File" and click Choose File
8. Select the Pressbooks XML (wxr) file that you just downloaded
9. Click Begin Import
Once the book has been imported, you'll be prompted to select the chapters and parts you'd like imported. Click the box at the top of the right column to select all chapters for import. From this screen, you can also decide whether to show the imported parts and chapters in the web export.
Importing your duplicate book from a Pressbooks XML file will maintain most of the formatting of the original book. A few things you will need to check and may need to change for the books to be identical:
1. The theme. When you create a new book, the theme will automatically be set to McLuhan. If your original book is in another theme, you'll need to change the new book to that theme.
2. The metadata. Some of the metadata information may not carry over. Go to your Book Info page on the new book to see if you need to fill in any names or licensing information.
3. The CSS. If you've made any customizations with CSS, you'll just need to copy/paste your revised code from your Custom Styles in the original book to the new book.
There are a few default pages that are created when you first make a book, including filler chapters in the front matter, main body, and back matter. These filler chapters may also need to be deleted for the books to be identical.
